Bush Prisby grew up in a small rural community in southwestern PA. He spent much of his childhood exploring the woods near his home discovering animal tracks, birdwatching, and generally falling in love with everything unspoiled nature had to offer. It's that love that led to becoming a "beach preserver" later in life.

In the winter of 2020, Bush and spouse Nancy began picking up litter along the beaches of Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The following year he created beachpreserver.org to raise public awareness of the issue, provide resources, and document their beach cleanups.
